Who we are

Team STASIS is the home of a small group of student game artists from De Montfort University tasked with creating a playable game level from absolute scratch, utilising the UDK development software.

From concepting, visual design, research, asset building, level progression and finished pieces, this blog records the progression from 19th January to 30th March 2011.

Team members include Arron Manchester, Sam Clarke, Izzy Kahn, Sai Ali, Steven Jones and Tom Edwards.

Some shots of the texture work I've been doing. Floor and water now have real-time reflections. I've also been building the new rooms at the back, but there not finished yet. I will post shots of them soon.

i used 200 tris...used spec, normal, alpha and diffuse... reference and asset shown below...

i added the details with bump and added the diffuse map...total tri count is 180tri's each row of the locker are 60tri's...

severed head low poly WIP


currently texturing the head :) will add the jar soon. i might make the bottom of the jar emit light upwards to make the head visible in the dark.

my textured assets so far in unreal

spent today learning unreal and decided to see what my assets looked like 


i also worked out how to make the little red lights on the tv and the camera glow on and off, and the vending machine has a slight glow that goes on and off but its barley noticable

head update

i modelled this with using 68tri's with diffuse map added...i had to curve the edges and use chamfer on each edges thats the reason why my tri count is that high....i still need to add bump n spec...what you think??

Faulty Electrics Particle test #1

I've been attempting to create a particle effect in UDK for faulty lights/electrics. For some reason it wouldn't let me save the package so wouldn't allow me to view it in level, will have to do it again in labs, but here is a video capture of it. Let me know whatcha think :)

decided to redo the textures for the security camera. Ive modeled pretty much everything now so I'm moving on to texturing the bulk of them over the next few weeks. let me know what u think.
